Safety and Security

Overview

The goal of the Office of Safety and Security is to ensure a safe working and learning environment for all staff and students. Our responsibilities include:

  • Conducting routine visits to schools to verify that safety plans and protocols are being followed.

  • Collaborating with district personnel, departments, and site leaders to address safety concerns.

  • Supporting schools in the development and implementation of their Safe School Plans.

  • Working in partnership with local law enforcement and first responder agencies.

  • Responding to and assisting schools and facilities during safety concerns or emergencies.

Student ID Badges – Grades 7-12

Students in grades 7-12 will be issued a school I.D. badge, they must carry it at all times.  All students are required to present their I.D. card when receiving meals or when asked by any FUSD staff members while at a school or any school functions.

Run, Hide, Fight- School based scenario

Each year, prior to the start of school, Fresno Unified implements districtwide staff sessions on the Run, Hide, Fight-protocol as part of its commitment to proactive safety preparedness. 

Staff gain practical strategies for responding to an active assailant in any public setting, increasing awareness, strengthening safety practices, and enhancing coordination with local law enforcement response procedures.
