About the Program
Fresno Unified School District’s American Indian Education Title VI is a federally funded program that is designed to provide academic and student support services for American Indian and Alaskan Native students in grades K-12. This program has been in the district since 1972 and has an established Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) that meets every third Tuesday of each month from August through May.
The goal of American Indian Education is to improve the achievement levels of American Indian and Alaskan Native students by providing academic support services including links to all available resources.

Title VI Parent Advisory Committee Meeting Schedule for 2025-2026
In an effort to engage parents, families, and the community, we encourage your participation in the Title VI American Indian Parent Advisory Committee meetings. We offer 10 meetings throughout the school year which are held once a month on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. on the 1st floor of 2011 Fresno St, Fresno, CA 93721. Parking meters are free after 6 p.m. on the weekdays. Any parent with a student enrolled in the Title VI Program is eligible to be a committee member. The parent committee advises, approves, and signs off on programs allocated for the American Indian Education Program within the yearly grant. Parents are our strongest advocates for change and growth of the program by informing staff and administrators about the programs that serve their students on a daily basis.
Every school year the Title VI parent committee helps with our annual Back to School Night. This family fun event allows the parents and students to meet our tutors and staff. Along with many other planned activities that promote understanding and respect for their heritage. These activities encourage students to maintain a healthy lifestyle, stay in school, and prepare for a successful future.

2nd Annual Language Family Hand Games Gathering
OVCDC, Fresno Nüümü Yadoha Language Program in partnership with Fresno Unified Indian Education Program hosted a family engagement event bringing together tribal relatives through cultural practices. Our Fresno Unified Native students had a team and learned how to play traditional hand games, make a set of sticks and bones, and then competed against other teams resulting in landing in 3rd place! We are connecting language, songs, culture, tradition, and math skills while increasing belonging and students confidence.
